Krupa
Apollo 440

This neat piece was written in honor of one Gene Krupa. I first heard of Apollo 440 when a friend of mine introduced me to their rendition of Don't Fear the Reaper, a song originally done by Blue Oyster Cult. I'd heard the original many times -- especially when I watched the movie version of Stephen King's "IT", but Apollo 440's reinterpretation really caught my ear. It wasn't long until I ran across their hit " Stop the Rock" and eventually sampled some of their other tunes. Now, ever since I was young I loved drum sets. I used to listen to my brother John drum along with Rush in the bar-room of my old house, and he certainly could drum. He used to jam with Smashing Pumpkins' Jimmy Chamberlain. He's why I almost joined band to smack drums with sticks back in elementary school, and the reason why I preferred "Krupa" over all of Apollo 440's songs. It was only a matter of time until the song ended up in a Plaguemix collection! |
